In fact the northern part of Mauritius is well known for its calm and azur blue lagoons whereas the southern part is visited specially for its nature e.g Waterfalls,Gauges and natural forests.
Though it is a village,Grand-Baie is very well developped with almost all the infrastructure as in a town!

Port-Louis was given its name under the French rule.At that time, the French Governor, Mahe´ De Labourdonnais was managing the country and he built the Government House which is still there at Place D'Armes today. At that time the French realised that Port-Louis was a suitable place to construct a harbour for trading and defending purposes.
